We are proud to announce that Tangerine Cafe was awarded Silver in category Cafe and Tearoom of the Year in the Dorset Tourism Awards 2021/22.

This is our press release:

Beaminster based Tangerine Cafe & Gallery has received Silver Award in Café and Tearoom of the Year category of the Dorset Tourism Awards 2021/22.

Tangerine opened in 2019 and has rapidly become renowned in the town and surrounding area for its range of homemade cakes, brunches and lunches, and quality tea and coffee.

Owners Chris and Sue Sims have been determined to see Tangerine develop despite the setback of closures due to Covid 19. “We were just becoming established when the first lockdown occurred and after several more temporary closure resulting from the pandemic, it seemed like we were starting again”, says Chris.

The cafe quickly recovered, reinforced with new initiatives such as Themed Evenings; Art and Jewellery workshops; and hosting knitting and Book clubs. “We aim to be a community hub as well as a destination for visitors to the town” says Sue. “Our customers appreciate that our food is homemade on the premises, and that we have four distinct spaces that offer a variety of experience. I think the judges could see that we have been innovative in our menu and use of space, and that everyone receives a warm welcome and lovely food and drink.”

Acknowledging the very positive customer reaction, Tangerine Cafe received a TripAdvisor Award in 2021 as one of their top 10% restaurants worldwide. “We are proud of what we have achieved so far” says Chris, “and hope to establish ourselves even more as a destination of choice”. As a sign of that ambition, Tangerine Cafe is included in an episode BBC’s Escape to the Country to be shown soon.

Thanks to our customers for their support and reviews and our staff for their hard work.
